I picked up my first Enfield this weekend from Lou (who was busier than most) at the Frederick Show.
I was flying blind on this because I knew nothing about them. The only thing I did know about them, was that I eventually wanted one.

It's a 1943 No.4 MK1 in really nice shape. From my very limited knowledge, it was priced to sell at $280....so obviously I had to buy it, right?

Since this thread would be worthless without pics, here are a few quickies until I can properly photograph her.

Awesome rifle! It's considered one of the top military rifles ever made because of the accuracy, 10 round capactiy, and the capability to fire it very fast.

.303Brit ammo used to be very hard to find and expensive, but now you can get quality ammo at any gun show for a very reasonable price. Look for the blue box, PPU/PRVI Partisan from Serbia. It's generally less than $20 for a box of 20 rounds.

sweet pickup, Lou does people well with his selection and prices.
Agreed, I will go out of my way to buy from him because of that.
My main problem is deciding who I'm going to buy from, Lou or Brian w/ SCSG, both treat you great and have a nice selection.
My next one is definitely coming from Brian, he has something I want

Very nice rifle and a great price too!

Enfields are a blast to shoot, and have actions like butter.

There can be headspace issues on those. Just so you know.
I read all about others when I got mine and was reloading for it.
And the ammo you use can accentuate it. +1 on finding/shooting the PPU.
Try to avoid Remington. The diameter of the base of the case are narrower.
They will work for shooting but a reloader will value it less (I would not want it).
Save your brass. People will buy the brass from you. I'll buy PPU spent brass $4 box of 20.

If your anywhere near the Elkridge/Glenn Burnie area, I'd be happy to meet you to use my Okie Headspace gauge at lunchtime.

I love shooting mine cause of the rear peep sight.

I was at the Fred show last time and buying a gun from Lou. Brian walked past and saw me. I felt like I was cheating on him and Brian looked disappointed in me. :(

Thanks for the new pics, looks great. By the way, your sling swivel is in the wrong place. It should be back on the rear barrel band.

    Nice score!
I have a (very serious, long-time firearm collector) friend who's been waxing poetic over the .303 Enfield for ages. So, after a Garand, I may have to consider an Enfield as well.
