Does any have a ar15 that has buffer spring noise when fired? Is it bad for the gun?

It's normal. Wipe a little grease on the spring and it will be much quieter.

I have a thin coating of lubriplate grease on the spring now. I was wonder if heavier grease would work better.

Don't worry about it. After a couple thousand rounds you will be somewhat deaf and won't be able to hear it anyway.

I use the VLTOR A5 buffer system, I don’t notice any noise.
