These guns are just way too much fun. I picked this one up years ago, now it seems they're impossible to find. The "Earl" model is the same as the cartridge gun minus the cylinder (which doesn't swap with normal NAA cylinders, so don't try it). Out to about 15-20 yards, I always got very respectable groups from this 4" barrel due to the (actually pretty great) sights. 5grains or so of Pyrodex P and a 29gr .22 short conical gets you right on the money, basically point of aim.

While I don't own one now, I did own the Super Companion and the Earl. Prior to the ATF making noises when NAA advertised them ok to shoot with Bullseye powder, NAA said they were made with the same steel as the other NAA minis and smokeless powder could be used in them.

I used to fill mine to the bullet ledge with Bullseye and the NAA 29 grain bullet. I did add tumble lube to the bullets as the faster speed caused some leading. Other than that, they were lots of fun. When I started having arthritic finger problems, I sold them off as it was too difficult loading them, especially putting the caps on since you couldn't get a capper on them.

They are absolutely made of the same steel; it's clear as day on that. I don't use smokeless because the BP and subs are just plain more fun IMO. I know guys that run #4 shot through these (.240 balls) and have great results, too.

If you ever come across another Earl Companion for sale...shoot me a message, I have a friend looking for one and I've been unable to find him one for 2+ years now.
