seems like a shotgun would have been more effective
Or a drone!!

It only doesn't read well because people don't know math or firearms. 33 rounds divided by 2 officers means 16-17 rds each. With an AR-15 they most likely had 30rd mags, so they only used about a half mag. That tells you they weren't spraying ammo wildly. I'd say being able to end a gunfight and only needing half a mag isn't bad at all. It could have been better, but everyone went home safe and that's whats important.
Or a drone!!
I can't/won't judge the actions of two officers who were in a parking lot at night with an armed and suicidal man. I wasn't there and his weapon wasn't pointed at me.
I know right were it happened no homes nearby backs up to a hill and a decent way on the other side of the road is the Fish Hatchery. Lots of commuters park there along with people that park there cars there to sell them.
Yikes, that means 28-29 rounds out into the community. Where is this Park&Ride off 66 and is it close to homes?
Sgt Preston here...
You are absolutely right, the job did get done...However...
My USMC background trained us to make 1 shot / 1 kill...
You had to stay still & take the incoming fire & make the shot...
Given the current political atmosphere, I don't think 33 shots reads well in most of the Socialists News Papers in MerryLand...
And Trial Lawyers & Grand Juries are lining up to depose the the LEO's involved...
Sgt Preston here...
I truly believe that many of us on this forum could have done much better...
I wasn't there BUT I know even at age 68, I could have taken lots less shots & ended the confrontation sooner...
I thought "one shot, one kill" was for snipers. Pretty sure this bumper sticker statement does not ring true for 98% of all shots from a Marine's rifle in combat.

Blaster229 here........
One thing I can say, is I know how I train and what my job is. If I were to get into any situation that someone thought wasn't favorable or "they could have done better", well tell me to my face and I know what I could do well. Plant my size 10 into your nuts.

Your signature line says it better than I can write it:
"Speed is fine, but accuracy is final"...
33 shots..?
Sgt Preston back again...
The "One Shot One Kill" philosophy was instilled in this old Jarhead by our Senior Officers & NCO's...
John Kennedy was President when I was in, so some things may have changed BUT...
They had been in Combat WW2 & Korea & had experienced logistical failures first hand = that is they had run OUT of AMMO on occasion...
So they tried to impress on us the need to make every shot count...
I still shoot that way today...

No it sets at the base of the hill and has quarry behind it.
How many shots went past the target?
