Original Florida CWL Time Frame: 2 Weeks

Just a frame of reference data point, I recently went to SW Florida to visit my college student son. I appeared in person at the Lee County Tax Collector's Office after making an appointment online to apply for a Florida Non-Resident CWL. During the 15-minute afternoon appointment, I filled out an electronic application on their computer, provided my Driver's License and the requisite proof of training, submitted to electronic fingerprinting, and got my picture taken. The license arrived in the mail 16 days later.

The point is you do not need a FL permit to CCW in FL any longer.

as a brand new snowbird, my understanding is the FL permit lets you avoid the 3 day wait on gun purchases. i was shocked to find that florida had at least one more restrictive gun law than VA!

i filled out the online app a few days ago and mailed my prints thursday. hopefully the permit will be done well before i head down there after Christmas.

Exactly. While swinokur is absolutely correct that FL is now Constitutional Carry, the FL Permit allows me to carry in Nearby DE as well. It would appear that Maryland is indeed recognized by Virginia however, so that is also of interest to me. I need to get the PA Non-Resident permit in addtion; it is my understanding that PA does not have a reciprocity agreement with MD, and PA will not issue a PA Non-Resident Permit to a person not licensed in his home state.

Correct. PA doesn't have it with anyone, their prior AG rescinded all reciprocity agreements.

I'm not sure if you mean rescinded reciprocity with respect to Non-Resident permits. If you go to the PA Atty Gen'l website, there is a section that provides reciprocity information PA RECIPROCITY INFO so there seems to be reciprocity agreements with certain States, not including MD of course. It explicitly states that Non-Resident Permits issued in States otherwise recognized are not valid in PA.

My Maine permit is good in DE.

As mentioned the witch was found guilty of tampering with documentation about an opponent, for which she was not only run out of office, but was indicted, convicted, and got an orange jumpsuit for a fashion statement

Anybody know why FL will accept electronic fingerprints if you apply in FL, but for non-residents applying outside of FL, they want ink prints on one of their fingerprint cards? And, the ink prints must apparently be taken & certified by a law enforcement agency, or someone approved by and can use a law enforcement agency seal.

I could have had my FL CCW a year ago, as my instructor gave me training certificates for both MD & FL. At the end of the 2nd day of training, he had a fingerprint person come in and take digital prints right there in real time, same person who took my prints the first time to get my HQL. But since FL doesn't accept digital prints from out of state non-residents, I couldn't take advantage of getting those prints before leaving.

So, my fault of course, but due to a busy work schedule, busy life, and basic all-around procrastination, I still haven't found/taken the time to drive down to the UMBC's police office to get ink prints taken, primarily because it's just a PIA.

I guess I'll have to break down and make the trip if I want to get my FL CCW, but really, I can't figure out the need to have to submit ink prints instead of digital prints. Anyone know the reason for this?

I submitted livescan prints for my FL renewal. I just used the FL specific print card when submitting.

Did they approve your livescan prints and issue your FL CCW? Just wondering as it's one thing to submit, but quite another for them to approve the livescans. Also, did you have a law enforcement agency or some authorized by a law enforcement agency that has their stamp, to stamp the card? Just seems FL has a few more hoops to jump through for non-residents.

i checked the status of my fl ccw application and it says it was incomplete and they mailed me a letter explaining why. not sure why they couldn't just email it... been like 10 days (i know, thanksgiving and all...) and haven't gotten the letter yet. you'd think with an online app they'd know immediately if i left something out, but guess not. thinking perhaps they didn't get my mailed prints yet (and that's the incomplete) but you'd think it would be easy enough to just say awaiting prints. nothing is easy.

This is what happened to us as well. When they received her prints they were not readable and had to be sent again. Eventually the message for hers changed to indicate that.

The AG referred to pulled all the reciprocity agreements that were under her control. Some of the agreements were signed by other branches of the PA Government and she couldn't touch those.

yeah the other stupid florida online thing, when you fill out the app online, they DON"T email you a confirmation, that has the transaction # on it. so you have to write it down or copy and paste the number and email it to yourself. i mean, who else doesn't email you some sort of confirmation when you complete something online...
