I just found a note I scribbled to remind myself of something I saw online:

    German Black Powder Patch Lube-

    90% Nivea Skin Cream

    10% Ballistol

Someone should try this and report back.

Not sure I will try it but how would I embed this into the patch and make sure it is consistent from patch to patch?

I microwave my lube with the patches in a tupperware container or tube. After it melts to a runny liquid I put the lid or cap on and give it a good shake. Let it sit for awhile to fully absorb. Don't boil it.

+1 I do this with my patches and my felt wads. I use a mixture of Bees Wax, Parafin and Olive oil. I adjust the mixture depending if I want it more liquid or harder. If you go to the CAS website they have several recipes that have been mentioned.

How do you pull them off and dry them?
Do you lift them off and then set somewhere?
    Squeeze some out?

tweezer them out if your lube is too thick

I remove from microwaved container before it turns completely solid. Nuke it again to loosen them up if need be. Drop them in a little box or whatever you have. You can let them harden on wax paper if they're too sticky. Once hardened the patches shouldn't stick to each other too much but on a hot day there's no avoiding it.

This has worked with bore butter, wonder lube 1000, and crisco. Never tried with parrafin but should be similar. Don't overdo the microwaving, warm and runny is good enough.

I use Simple Green solution --- diluted with water --- too lube up my roundball patches.

When I top-off my black powder revolver...I use two thirds Butter Crisco & one third pure beeswax --- melted together --- and allow it to harden into a soft creamy paste; that does not melt as pure Crisco does on a hot revolver

    Ed's Red-the paraffin recipe only.

Bet you haven't heard that in a while? Great for cleaning too.
