    Quick story about PayGov.com

In 2020 I paid the annual US Coast Guard User Fee ($300) via paygov.com like I always had in the past.

About 6 months later I get a check in the mail for $300 from Dept of Treasury. I called and emailed for months before I finally got an reply. They blamed the mix up on a paygov software update during COVID and said I would get another invoice.

I did get one for CY 2021 which I paid via check and USPS.
I got one for CY 2022 which I paid via check and USPS.

I never did get one for CY 2020.
I called and emailed asking about - finally got someone to answer. They said paygov.com indicated it was paid. I explained that it was paid but that they refunded it. The lady flat out said they were having all sorts of problems with paygov.com crediting payments to the correct accounts.

A few weeks ago I got a notice from a collection agency for the CY 2020 fee which I had already paid once and had them refund it and never billed me again. They now want $500 and change for the $300 fee.

Still trying to straighten it out.

I am sticking to old fashioned checks and USPS Priority mail from now on.
