Yesterday evening in forest hill I spotted a ring neck pheasant first one I've seen in Harford county. Just curious if someone is missing a pheasant. I know someone up the road has chickens and wondering if their pheasant got out or if it was wild took some awful cell phone photos at near dark. It's heading under the trees

Another. Near the corner of the black shelter in the neighbors yard.

I'd say he was lucky I was getting a tape measure out of the truck rather unloading from a range trip. Lol

My money's on pet just for the fact that while it was keeping its distance it wasn't in full panic mode as I was stalking it.

Just above forest hill a bit is a game farm called mason dixon outfitters they do the release shots. alot of them get out. Also there are a few people in the hickory/forrest hill area who raise them.

I grew up off Chestnut hill road.

Game farm down the road from us has them running all over the place all the time.

Hunters pay to have a number of them released for the hunt and the survivors who are good at hiding wind up running free all over the place.

Pretty dumb animals always in the road etc :)

When I was a kid in the 70s, there was a decent population of wild birds in Harford County. There is a game preserve, Mason Dixon Outfitters, in Pylesville off of Rt. 136. They do pheasant, quail, chukar, and Hungarian partridge. I saw a cock bird on Graceton Rd a few years ago. My bet is that these are released birds from Mason Dixon that have survived and moved out into the surrounding area.

Pheasant is goooood eatin! We used to go out after school everyday and get a few. In those days you took your hunting clothes and guns to school in the trunk of the car. Changed in the parking lot and off to the woods. Today, we'd be off to jail.

    Pheasant? In Maryland?

That cock bird must be an escapee from a display case in the Smithsonion. Man I miss hunting them like we used to years ago........
that was my initial thought. Usually when I see species I've never seen in an area I never get a pic for proof that I'm not crazy.
