Pistol grip question Photo's added

I wanted to know if anyone has changed out their stock grips on a 1858 44. I was thinking about swapping for a non traditional grip like Hogue.
Currently I’m tinkering with a 3/4” piece of wood to the bottom of stock grips. I’ll post some pic’s shortly Thanks
