Tossing this question out there for the MD Shooters brain trust. It certainly falls under the category, "because you can," or perhaps you can't unless you file an ATF form.
If you take a modern AR pistol (pre-2013 FSA for clarification) and put another pistol under the hand guard, is that constructing an SBR?
My math says no, but you would make an AOW as the 2nd pistol may constitute a VFG. However, if you took the route of an unusual pistol like the defunct Zip-22 you'd have a legal pistol on pistol configuration.
