I used to legitimately worry about them busting down my door at night because I used to buy a lot of .45acp ammo to shoot out of my friends gun at the range and I didn't own any .45acp guns myself.

That was one of the reasons I ended decided on finally breaking down and getting my m&p45 recently.

You do realise there are several ways you can have an unregistered completely off the books handgun in the state of MD, right? MD is voluntary registration, the joke of it is that you are required paperwork to transfer. I legally own handguns that the state of MD knows nothing about and never will, and I am breaking no laws. Furthermore, there are .45 acp rifles that can be transferred FTF and not recorded at all which would be a perfectly valid explanation to why you could appear on their goofy log and not be matched up to a registered handgun.

This whole ammo log pisses me off because its ridiculous and just makes no sense to me. Its almost like its a PR campaign to make buying ammo look like the equivalent of buying crack on the street and demonize the shooting sport. Just the nerve that anyone believes they should know what ammo I am purchasing beyond me and the seller pisses me off. :mad54:

Dont you rent from your parents and your room has a lock on the door ?

That way he could not access your weapons. But since the Popo saw them when they came in did you have your door closed ?

Are there any children under the age ?

If you should have had your guns under lock and key you might need to get a lawyer quick because you will be charged at some point under Marylands Child Protection Act.. They may not have done it that day but if they think they can get something on you for future use...........

Well the "testing" for his DNA came back negative (in the good way) and according to the officer that led the investigation (looked at the ammo log) they are just waiting on the release paperwork but I got that info about two weeks ago now and they are still giving me the work around so I'm hoping that they are just being slow.

P.S. Yes they were in my closet and locked but the warrant stated that they could pretty much take anything they had pleased except for the kitchen table (near literally). As was being discussed earlier the warrant is most likely violating the 4th amendment but I don't want the entire case to be dismissed because that man does not deserve a break.

And thank you all for your concern.

My gramp was robbed in upstate NY (his beautiful high standard sport king... now mine) and it took my uncle, a former trooper, to call in a favor to get the gun back.

the police had dropped the charges against the perp (he flipped on another scumbag) and they were still NOT going to release the gun.

once a gun ends up in police custody, they do not like to give them back. YMMV

You might want to get an attorney if you want them back.

Them being in the same location as drugs and drug items make them seizable and they can be forfeited regardless really if the drugs were on him while in your house or on his bed inside your house.[/QUOT]

    Ditto. Hire counsel right away

You have to know your rights. Without a search warrant or valid probable cause, you say "I don't consent to searches". If the search still proceeds, say that I am not consenting to this illegal search, and that you protest the search. Make sure you also have a witness. If you don't protest, then you have consented.

The same thing with a traffic stop. "I don't consent to searches" You might be intimidated or threatened but unless there is a warrant or valid probable cause you don't consent and if search starts, you protest and state you don't consent to search (again better if witness is there).

I am aware of someone that had their guns removed from him because of a false report from his estranged wife.

The police gave him the run-around for months. At one point they told him that they did not have any 9mm ammo to do the testing on his two pistols.

At that point I told him to call my lawyer. When he heard that ******** line he called them directly and said they were filing suit and expected the guns back asap.

The Leutenant called them one day later and told them that it was not nescessary to file and they were being tested that day and would be returned by the end of the week.

When he went to pick them up there were scratches on both guns. He was happy to get them back but the one gun was an UNFIRED collector grade Browning Hi-Power.

Think about it....there was no reason what so ever to fire that gun other than to get ballistics on it for future use not that it was ever fired and could not have been used in any crime.

Up to this point it had NEVER been fired but then they fired it. Totally worthless now as a collectors piece....

Thank you for the obvious statement, but I bet you didn't know he needed viagra (was on the list of stuff they took from his safe). But seriously though, not only is he incometent as a functional member of society, but he also never graduated high school, had no intentions of marrying my sister (said so when they started dating), but he is also incompetent in bed. How does that even work, he isn't good at anything accept being a moron. :sad20:

i dont understand why he had his own safe at YOUR house. furthermore a safe large enough to hold a shotgun?

Well if you read my eariler post it was a short barreled shotgun that I imagine is an AOW (and it most definitely was not registered as such)
And he was renting from my parents much the same as me.

It would be an SBS not AOW (well i guess it depends if it had a buttstock or not), but still its not the size of a handgun and would require a decent size safe.

I didnt know he was a legit tennant, unless it was off the books kind of thing with no official lease.

Yep, off the books, had no stock and it was a 2'x2'x2' floor safe so not too large but it wasn't tiny.

Unfortunately not, the affidavit claims the testing is done (and obviously good) but his claim is the lab hasn't gotten back to his calls, so I'm gong to try to get a hold of a lawyer sometime soon because I feel like he is just pulling my leg so to speak.

Get used to the lame excuses. They will tell you anything to stop you from getting your property back.

    1. Why did the police come to your house in the first place? Is it because this friend of yours purchased ammo?
