no they say its not, right on the webpage right below the picture of the rifle. Not a big deal, check gunbroker, the market on them is down. Lots of them in original stock for 150-200. One is a buy it now for 200.
Strict interpretation of the "original configuration" rule I think they are wrong technically but like I said, on GB there are plenty for 200 with the proper stock. I remember the last few years polish m44's brought a premium, usually 275-350
strange i got an email from Centerfiresystems for there M44 ati stock and no bayo and right after from sog for a Russian m44 all original for 30 bucks more.
I would argue that it doesn't. Though, obviously, the call is theirs and they can sell to who they want.
I would think if we were talking about a firearm that was less than 50 years old, than a large change to the original configuration of the firearm would likely change the firearms status.
In this case, we are talking about a gun that is over 50 years old. Regardless of it's configuration, over 50 years is over 50 years. That rifle is C&R no matter what stock it comes in.
