PNTC Precision Rifle Level 1 May 11/12

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Course overview

The PR-1 course is designed to introduce shooters to multiple precision rifle shooting techniques as well as how to properly setup and use your rifle and scope. Upon completion of this course the shooter will be confident and proficient in zeroing there rifle, manipulating and using their scopes as well as being able to effectively engage and hit targets at ranges of 500 yards using various shooting techniques. This course will consist of 18 hours of range class’s and range time. Students will be taught subject matter in small blocks then you will practice and demonstrate proficiency thru drills and live fire exercises. This course will be taught by Peacemaker National endorsed guest precision rifle trainers. Both are two former Marines with numerous military, law enforcement, and civilians shooting schools under their belts to include USMC Scout Sniper School. Both are also professional long range shooters who are sponsored, by numerous industry leaders and they compete in multiple shooting disciplines at the highest levels of competition.

    Gear Requirements

Shooters must have a bolt action rifle or semi automatic rifle chambered in any caliber ranging from .223 up to .300 Winchester Magnum with scope that is capable of shooting minute of angle. Your rifle must be capable of shooting 1” groups or better at 100 yards. We highly recommend as a new shooter that you bring a short action rifle chambered in .308. PNTC has FNH USA Special Police sniper rifles for lease with variable Leupold 3X10. Cost is $200 & $450 Ammo Cost plus tax. Rifles are chambered for 168 Federal Gold Match Ammo.

Shooters rifle must have a bipod or some sort of shooting platform in which the shooter can shoot from in the prone position. (pack, sandbag, ect.)
    Rifle Sling
Chamber Flag REQUIRED. PNTC has these cheap on site if needed
    Weapons magazines if applicable
Data Book (The book we teach from and use is the Impact Data books. You will need the premade book in either pocket or standard size and your choice of paper. You can order this prior to the course at www.impactdatabooks.com)

Hearing protection- foam earplugs, hard shells or both will be required.
    Eye protection
Rifle cleaning equipment-(Rods, bore guides, solvents, patches, brushes.)
    Scope tools, wrenches
    Note pad, pen or pencil
    Appropriate clothing

    Optional Items

Spotting Scope (if you have one)
    Small backpack
    Sunscreen
    Hat
    Shooting mat
    Stool or chair

Ammunition: 300 rounds minimum- Factory “match” ammunition. If handloads are used they must function properly and be safe. The failure to have safe and accurate ammunition will be grounds to stop you from participating in the “live fire” portions of the training. The loss of shooting time in the class will be the responsibility of the student.

    Student Requirements

Students should come with an open mind and willingness to learn. Shooter should be willing to make mistakes and receive corrective actions.

The shooter will be required to have the proper gear and equipment in order to conduct training. We expect the shooter to have a working knowledge of their weapon and equipment that they bring to the course. Shooter should be proficient with loading and unloading their weapons and they should have safe gun handling skills. Safety is our first concern everything else is secondary. Your rifle should be zeroed prior to arriving for the course in order to save some time when we go into zeroing drills and techniques. Showing up with a rifle that wont print on an 8 ½ x 11 sheet of paper will slow down the training drastically. As long as it’s in the ball park we will be good to go!! Logistics.

All shooters will meet in the PTNC Headquarters office for legal waiver signing and Safety Briefing from PNTC Range Officers.
Training starts at 0800 so please show up early we have plenty of material to cover.
Lunch will be on the range you will get a 30 minute lunch break, so bring your lunch and plenty of water.
Have all your gear with you at all time we won’t have time to be going back to vehicles for gear.

Flat Price: $500 +tax, Per Student

    Critical Safety Guidelines

Please keep your firearms UNLOADED and CASED upon arrival.
Please bring your CASED and UNLOADED firearms to the “Safe Area” which will be located on Range 1 / Stage 1. Other Safe Area’s will also be provided but please use Safe Area 1 upon arrival. NO AMMO is allowed in the “Safe Area!”
Ammo may be handled outside the “Safe Area.” Firearms may not be unholstered or loaded until on the line and under direction of a PNTC Range Officer.
Once in the “Safe Area” you may uncase and holster your UNLOADED firearm. Please keep your magazine out of your handgun, and DO NOT remove your firearm from your holster or attempt to load until on the firing line when instructed to do so by a PNTC Range Officer.
DO NOT handle firearms at your vehicles. Use the “Safe Areas” to case and uncase and or repair firearms.
Failure to abide by these rules will result in a match disqualification.

Tony is an Appleseed instructor as well and knows about their training but this is different. A different set of skills for long range.

That's a pretty bold statement, have you ever heard of guy named Ed Shell. I'd put my money on him.

Yes sir I know Ed he is a great guy and good shooter. As i stated before this will be the best training on the best facility in this area.

Go do your homework and you will see Ed usually finishes well behind Rob and I in most competitions. Not that that's a indication of his ability or teaching just tossing that out there for you to ponder.

When did this become about bickering.
Ive shot with and learned from ED. Great shooter, excellent teacher.
I'm familiar with Blaster's rep over at the Hide and watching footage of them from several SH CUP matches. Also excellent.
Whats the problem?? That means we now have on the East Coast and close to our vicinity 2 great opportunities to shoot long range and learn from good guys. That means not having to drive damn near cross country for opportunities like this.

I thought the hot button topic of this thread would be something like..finding enough ammo. because that's the main reason I haven't been to shoot with Ed and it looks like that's the reason I wont be able to do this one.

I say if you can go and have the ammo...Quit your bitching and GO!!! Or sell the ammo to me so I can.

and Freddy wins out of everyone! Shameless plug for BHTC!!! In all honesty though Rob and Tony are two of the top shooters in the country. Your money will be well spent training with them.

Good call man. I posted a thread about this class about 2 months ago and I'm still trying to find ammo for it before I sign up. But just a heads up, Peacemaker's has listed that they will have ammo available for the classes they offer. Of course it's what they are going to charge that may be your concern.
