    price isn't bad by today's standards $120/1500
In my world, Price @ $120/1500 for FULLY loaded Rounds of just about any caliber sounds like a better price.

Seriously, I still remember the good old days when I could get 50 rounds of American Eagle 44 Mag Hollow Points at Duffy's any day of the week. Probably the most I paid was $21. Now try getting even 38 SpL and not need a loan to have enough for a good practice session.

Are these something you're looking for? I don't even bother posting any small primers (pistol or rifle) any longer, they seem to be available most everywhere I look now.

Fed SPP at a decent price (like the old Kygunco deals) is something I'm still interested in, if only because I need them for revolver.

Broadly agree that the primer situation is on a good trajectory, even with the international events in play.

Actually, I haven't really kept up. I'm good on primers for a while. I posted those because I have been waiting for them for over a year(from this particular dealer) and finally got a notification. Unfortunately, though primers are accumulating, their prices have yet to recede.

IIRC benchrest primers are optimized and QCed for very consistent ignition. As far as brisance (i.e. how "hot" they are), they're standard primers, just a lot more expensive. But for reloading my Garands and others with floating pins, I stick with the CCI #34s because they're specifically made to be less sensitive, so light taps from the FP won't risk setting them off OOB. That said, plenty of people load nothing but "standard" sensitivity primers and have never had an OOB.

Sensitivity is a function of primer compound, anvil height, and, to a lesser extent, the thickness and metallurgy of the cup's metal. Unfortunately manufacturers are stingy with specific information about these properties of their products so we're all stuck with just personal experience and Internet rumor to judge ewhat primer is best for a particular application.

The BR QC you'd be paying extra for wouldn't have any noticeable benefit in target shooting applications unless your creating very precise loads with tightly matched and trued brass.
True. Then again I doubled on my SKS the other day with reloads. I ejected a round when the range was called cold and dumped the mag. The chambered round was in the mag second. So fired a round and when the next chambered it set it off. I was somewhat prepared, but man the cyclic is high! I’ve doubled my Garand by holding it too loose on the bench and bump firing a second round. But this was way faster.

I replaced the firing pin with one of the return spring firing pins.

On the dropped bolt test Winchester LP primers had a noticeable indent with one drop and went pop on the second. With the spring loaded firing pin just the slightest mark on a dropped bolt. I gave up on the 5th chambering to see if it would pop the primer (still no).

I’d imagine #34s might have gotten away with two bolt drops and set off on a third before swapping the firing pins, but as much of a dent as was being put in them I don’t see it lasting more than that.

Brownells and Natchez both have Fed SPP, but far from deals..

I had a MAS 49/56 go full auto once as did my brother. 10 full power rounds when you aren't expecting it makes for an exciting day. This was years before CCI developed the #34 and #41 for the reloading market. We solved the problem by turning the FP on a lathe to reduce the mass. It worked just fine after that.

Outdoor limited has a good selection including larger rifle and I think Win LRM primers, but not cheap.

    Thanks Sticky.

I will be checking them out for sure. I might be in the Feck it, mindset about now. In other words, just buy a bit of this and a bit of that, and stop bitching about cost, unless shipping is exorbitant on top of the high cost of components.

A few years back, I looked into trying to figure out, HOW can I make my own primers since they were impossible to come by at that point.

Speaking of Primers. I went to this site to look at the charts and am wondering if there is a mistake for the 44 SPL primer vs 44 Rem Mag. The Graf and Sons chart lists LR primers for 44 SPL, but I am pretty sure it should be LP like the 44 Mag. Can anyone confirm?

Here is a reality check on the Feck it comment I made.

I was researching Winchester primers and ratings and saw this.

    Value for the money:

With a street price of $25-30/1000, these primers are priced at or below the average price for primers at the time of this writing. That makes these primers a solid 4.0/5.0 on the value scale.

DON"T I WISH!!!!! $25-$30 sounds like more in line with what I would call 1/2 decent prices instead of freaking close to $100 on up for 1000 primers.
