On two occasions at my range, I have found about 50 9x19 cases about 3 feet in front of the firing line. The brass was clean so it wasn't from a blowback or silenced firearm and all were once fired.

I don't know of any pistols that throw brass forward like that and my CMMG Banshee sure doesn't. Has anyone seen this before? What kind of 9mm throws its brass forward like this?

On revolvers I’m not reloading which is rare I dump into my hand and toss out of the way. But just a guess. Forward ejection is unusual but someone here will probably have an answer. I have a lever action which most end up bouncing off me and end up forward but not 3’

A few handguns will, especially with hot ammo, bounces off the ejector and gets tossed out and forward. Some PCCs like the MPX will toss cases to 2:00 also, and don't crud up brass like blowback.

My mp5 sends them way more than three feet forward and leaves very distinct marks. One of the colt SMGs sends them a few feet forward and, with very clean ammo like norma, tends to have no apparent soot on outer case surfaces.

MP5 has a fluted chamber and are very noticeable. No SMG's allowed at our range. Neighbors would have called in a complaint if there was. Someone could probably sneak one in with a silencer but the brass would be new looking when it came out.
