On May 11, 23 I submitted my 77R. This is a private sale. Since then nothing has changed on my application status. My understanding is after 7 days I can take possession of said handgun ? Am I thinking correct ?

There is two parts to this. One, you fill out your part of a 77R online. Two, at the MSP or Dealer, they will fill out their part. After that you wait until the 8th day and then you can transfer the gun.

This. If the second part hasn't been completed, the status of the 77r will remain at "submitted to pool" indefinitely. It's not submitted for review by MSP until the second part is done.

Yes I realize that . It's been 10 days. And I have not received any communication from MSP. No confirmation # and no Pin #. Like I have gotten with past tranfer? Maybe I'm just putting to much faith in the process ?

Go to your account on the MSP portal. If it has been accepted and you didn't get the email, it will have a button to resend the pin. If this isn't there then your submission didn't get to them.

I just did a couple and the system responded pretty fast.

I'll have to check on that. Last I checked it was accepted. I may just stop at the barracks with my application # and see if I get any help .

Stopped by a MSP barracks today to try and get some clarity on my handgun tranfer. Had my application # and a printed copy of the 77R. No one knew anything, could not find and record of me filing anything . Left there pretty frustrated. Got home and checked emails and low and behold , I recieved a email from MSP with confirmation # and pin # around the same time I was there . Imagine that !

I'd like to flip the script on this question. My uncle wants to sell me a handgun. He lives in a much freer state. He's going to visit in about 6 weeks. Having an active 77r is no problem for me and we can easily go to the local MSP barracks.

Is there an issue from his side that he needs to be advised of and prepared for?

I would call the barracks and ask. I was going by this. Second paragraph down.
