I received my first Tokarev today. Romanian with two mags, one appears to be original, the other is clearly new as it wears a made in Taiwan sticker. Finish is very nice, but I was a little disappointed that it did not come with the Star grip panel as pictured on the SOG web site. I have sent an inquiry to SOG.

I notice a little slide wobble from side to side, is this typical?

    Eagerly awaiting an ammo delivery!

I know you said slide, but do you mean slide or barrel?

Slide, not so usual, but also not that unusual...1/16th-ish (maybe even 1/8th) of an inch while locked back is normal. More? Not so much. Closed? the barrel'll tink-tink-tink on the slide whilst forward...Regardless, it's likely to not have any significant effect.

    Barrel, 1/8-1/4? normal.

Not unusual either...My romo came with russian ("CCCP") grips. In fact, I'm not even sure Romos had stars....?

    grips vary. no issues there.

idk on the play "wobble" in your slide, as there is some play in all toks's but i cant say on here if urs has more play than others. again, I would not worry.

    edit:

Romy's did come with stars as oem. Those are replacment grips. very common

With the slide forward, if I hold the grip in one hand and hold the end of the slide near the front sight in the other, I can move the slide less than 1/8" side to side. With the slide back, there is no movement.

Hopefully much less wiggle than that. 1/8" would be an insane amount.

The bore looks good. I have not shot the pistol as of yet, but will do so assuming the ammo shows up on Friday. Looks like the general consensus is that the play in the slide is no big deal. Thanks for the comments on the grips. And YES, I dio have a Mosin. :D

Thanks for the comments on the grips. And YES, I do have a Mosin. :D

There are sexy wood grips on ebay....they have weird flare-back tops, so I don't like them. They, and the tokagypt wrap-arounds, just look....wrong. they may feel better, or give your better grip, but....they're just...wrong. Bleah.

Why can't they make sexy walnut/beech/pecan/oak/any tree grips in original configuration? I'd buy like...4 pair. Well, 2 normal pair and 2 yugo pair.

As for the mosin....I KNOW that bolt has about a half-inch of play in it. And yet you questioned less than an 1/8th of an inch of play in a Sov-state handgun?

No, no....I actually understand....but still: Lawl.
