If you were really manly you put the butt of the gun against your crotch and pulled back on the slip ring with both hands until you sang an octave higher or the handguards came off.

...I'm still trying to wrap my head around slathering a AR bolt in grease and then dipping it in motor oil.
Did you you guys use a handguard removal tool to get the handgaurds off? When I was in, we had the M16A1 and those hangaurds were easy to take off compared to the new ones on my non free-floated AR's. Of course those old A1's had more mileage than the workers in the Red Light district. The delta ring springs were pretty loose.
My son had a question. For those deployed into Iraq or Afghanistan in the past decade, Did 5.56 ammo in the cans come loose or on 10 rd stripper clips w/ a spoon in the can?
