What hoops do you have to jump through if someone wants to give you some old handguns.Old being1940-1960ish. I was thinking that I would need to use a gun dealer for the tranaction.

If the person is out of state, it will have to go through an FFL dealer.

If you're both instate, the transfer(s) can be done at a State Police Barracks ($10 fee)

A diffrent question I have my fathers handgun it was given to me back in 1977 and I was over 21 . Should I worry about this.

Not at all. FTF handgun xfers were actually okay in MD in '77
