Question on HQL & designator collector

Anyone know if you have to have your HQL before you can get your designated collectors status? Brother in law asked me but I had my designation before HQL system was in. Thanks

Two separate things. You can get either or both in any order.

HQL First

Check with the MSP Senior Trooper Thompson at the MSP Licencing Branch. I believe an HQL needs to be acquired first.

No as you can still collect C&R handguns and lower recoevers sans HQL

I think this is your personal decision.

Do you want to get a non C&R handgun, and are you not against getting the HQL? If yes, I'd get the HQL now and be done with it.

This is what my dad was told when he was denied. MSI sued on his behalf and they granted him his DC. No where does it say you have to have a collection to become a collector.

But to answer the main point. No you do not need HQL to get DC. I got my DC last year without it.

But to answer the main point. No you do not need HQL to get DC. I got my DC last year without it.

Can i get the case information? My wife applied at the same time I did, I got mine, hers got ignored.
