    Hi there,

I was curious to know if anyone is having issues with reflections in red dots. I have a Feyachi red dot bought at Amazon and I see a not-well defined dot next to the actual red dot about 7 o’clock position, real close. Sometimes can’t distinguish which one is the real ‘dot’. I paid $44 (original price $79). It had almost 5 stars. I know…it’s Amazon. I never had a red dot and just wanted to try one. Is this reflection due to cheap optic or it is something that can happen to a vortex or SS?

Not with reflection. That may be due to the "quality" of the sight. However I have astigmatism and have to turn down the brightness on my red dots to get rid of "starburst" to shoot more accurately.

Possibly astigmatism. One way of to test if it's you or the dot, take a picture of it with your phone camera. If it's a clean dot in the picture, it's you. If the camera sees a starburst too, it's a shit red dot.

I will lean towards cheap optic probably with sub standard anti reflection coating on the front glass. Cheapest optic manufacturer I have used and had no issue with is sightmark and there are plenty of others out there in that price point like Bushnell or Sig for basic red dots.

    My bet is cheap optic.

I have a handful of Holosun pistol red dots, both C and K size variants. As well as assorted rifle scopes (illuminated) and prism optics. If you want to check something out in comparison let me know, I'm not far from you.

I do have an astigmatism, and it is bad if I'm just sitting in my room staring through the optic. but once you put the dot on target, outside, you don't really notice it.

Do you have astigmatism? What you are describing is how many people with astigmatism see red dots.

Don’t think so. Had my eye screening last Dec and all was good. Have not noticed any changes. I’ll take some pics of the red dot and post them here.
If the 'shadow' dot shows up in a picture, that will be proof that it isn't your eyes.

I bought a Feyachi 5X magnifier to put behind my Sig Romeo 5 on an AR9. It really blurred the dot at higher magnification. Feyachi sent me another one when I reached out to them with the problem. They have excellent customer service. The one they sent me was a little better but not perfect. If it turns out that there is a problem with the red dot and not your eyes, contact Feyachi and I bet they will send you another one.

That’s a cool graphic. I have an astigmatism but I guess I’ll be grateful I only get the starburst effect. Those other two would be a nightmare.

I haven’t used dots much but when shooting, it doesn’t seem that noticeable.
I have an eye problem that surfaces every once and a while. I will get double vision in one eye. It can occur in either eye. When it happens, I have to figure out which dot is the correct dot to pay attention to.
    Life is about adjustments.
