My wife enjoys shooting guns, but all our regulated purchases have been done in my name. We are currently looking at purchasing a new handgun. Is there any reason to have an application done in her name, or does it not really matter since we are married?

If she gest a handgun application in before Oct. 1, she will be exempt from the training requirement if she chooses to purchase another handgun after Oct. 1.

Do it in her name now... You can avoid some of the training requirements from SB281 (I believe), if you already own a registered firearm before Oct. 1...

She will still have to go through a simple nonlinear training procedure, with no test. It's a Maryland requirement to get a MSP firearms safety training course certificate number in her name, have her do it ASAP.
