rust removal in the barrel

    I started the Molasses barrel soak last night.

    I see the HF has a small bottle of the Evapo Rust for $10

    Anyone ever used Vinegar? I see it also removes Bluing.

    THAT is right impressive. Maybe even better than going through the electrolysis stuff.

    I was shocked it came out so well. I also had a ram and some dies rusted stuck as well as a powder thrown evaporust saved them for me.

    Now I just need to nut up and rust blue the pistol like I planned to when I got the project!

    OK, a few days in the Molasses mix removed the rust. Molasses seems to attack the rust more than the bluing. It left the factory bluing pretty much in tact in the barrel.
    I had a cheap chromed adjustable wrench that had some rust on it, I left it in the cup that had the excess molasses mix in it and the rust brushed away after a couple days.
