Any reason why you're going with the Mako stock?

Well I looked at a few, and the MAKO got some pretty good reviews.
It has build in storage, adjustable cheek support, and it's own built in recoil buffer, and looks pretty bad a$$

Not sure how good it's buffer is, not like 5.56 really has any recoil anyway.
But thought I'd check it out, instead of completely pimping out my AR in MagPul gear, like every other AR I've seen ;)

Looks good, really like your first build too. Can't wait to see this one done. I'm glad I'm not the only one who just finished their first build and already planning the 2nd.

Any reason you picked a YHM rail over the others ?

They work, but they are bulky.

It wasn't my first choice to be honest, but I was trying (somewhat) to stick to a budget.

It does have that impression that it's bulky, but they are all the same dimesions, or they wouldn't line up flush with the top of a flat top receiver..

My first choice at a fair budget would of been another Midwest Industries T-Series rail.

As for other parts on the build, the Magpul backup sights I have actually taken off of my SPR, for this build to save a few bucks.

I understand the budget aspect and, as I said, the YHM rail works the same as all others.

They are the same height, however width is a different story.

DD ( M4 series, their widest version ) vs YHM :

I'm not bashing the choice, just over time I've owned a lot of FF rail/tubes and accessorys for the platform. From my time shooting with different systems I find I can get better control over the gun with a thinner handguard. Everyone is different though.

I've shot an SGL21 with a Mako recoil-reducing stock and I hated it. You just end up hearing the recoil buffer rattle around as you shoot. But, to each their own.

I'll see how it works out, but I hadn't heard of that issue before.

So I'm in the process of getting my barrel pinned, so no pics of the upper yet.

But here's a teaser shot of the lower parts, and my Red Dot.

Of course I had to include my awesome 18" SPR in the pic ;)

Lower not complete, only screwed the stock on hand tight for the pics ;)

yeah...dude you've got a flag on the ground and you're stepping on it. Probably a time to turn it into the local VFW.
