I've noticed that there are sometimes guns not on the roster for sale in local gun shops. It's usually a newly introduced model that hasn't completed the approval process, but folks are still buying them. Can gun stores do this legally? I would think that when the 77R was put through MSP would flag it as not approved and deny the purchase. I know that that is not the case, so whose responsibility it it to check the roster before purchase?

You are correct it will not be approved

You can offer it for sale before it is listed on the roster, but the 77r will not be approved. Basically the gun will stay at the shop until it is listed

The dealer sells it so you can be sure you got one. He keeps it until it hits the roster, and the buyer finishes the paperwork then. A new Glock isn't likely to be rejected.

Very interesting...I guess there is what's written in law and then there's what happens in real life. Not the same.
It's perfectly legal. The buyer isn't taking delivery until after their 77R is approved.

The law doesn't state you can't put a deposit on a gun that isn't on the list yet. I had money tied up for months and the dealer never even received the gun after it was approved. A sale is not complete until MSP approves the form 77.
