The chief obstacle to a deal is the question of giving federal authorities the ability to collect records of private gun sales. Conservatives fear that such a provision would inevitably lead to a national database of guns and their owners.

If it's good enough for Maryland ....:sarcasm:

The Senate has noticed what's been going down in MD and NY. These guys are survivors, and care much less about any given subject that they do about keeping theri jobs. Many of us were not around in 1994 to witness what happened to the pro-AWB folks, but the politicians know. And they've never seen this level of opposition from the voting public. Never.

While any ban has zero chance of passing the House, it will be intereting to see how it fares in the Senate. They have the chance to posture against firearms, but how will that play in Peoria? Few of them are willing to kiss their sweet jobs good-bye.

    Compromise? What ********.

Sure, they want to compromise since they've thrown everything but the kitchen sink at this cluster fvck.

I bet they are looking to compromise now, taking out 80% of this shit bill still leaves it as a........piece of shit. :)

The sequester stuff is going to force a re-tooling of priorities for our government.
