I don't understand shooting a "test" at 50 yards, but alas....
9mm probably drops 2 inches at 50 yards. It could be 3 maybe.
A P229 sights are a "combat hold". That means the dot of the front sight has to cover the bullseye. The flat top of the sight does not cut through the center of the bullseye "center hold", nor does it rest under the bullseye (pumpkin on a fence post), or "6 O'clock hold".

But at 50 yards, a person cannot even see that. Best you can do is aim high, say combat hold at the head.

Our 229's in Sig 357, we would just point shoot because that round was very flat out to almost 100 yards. At long distance you have to have a great grip and trigger control and trust good mechanics over great sight picture.
