LUTH-AR has them, and so does JSE:

Stripped if you want to Cerakote it; although the JSE is a better deal.

Was the A2 originally a slickside ? I have 2 Colt Uppers that both have shell deflectors so I'm curious.

Yeah I think the A1 did not have a shell deflector but it definitely had a forward assist. The Canadians had a version of the A1 with a shell deflector.

My favorite retro build is the Air Force version they had in Viet Nam with no forward assist. The slick side commando version is my second favorite.

If you really want to go for a really off the wall build, try to build a M16A2 prototype clone. Back in the day, they had a prototype that was safe, semi, burst, and auto on the selector. Good luck finding a lower with that engraving.

There is also a safe/semi/three-round burst/automatic selective fire trigger group Model 708 version of M16A2 rifle named "M16A2 Enhanced", used by some militaries around the world
