Egh...
We are going no where fast. Seems like most of what is happening now is simply complaining about how badly they are screwing the average citizen. Almost this whole session has been about maintaining ground (albeit,... shitty ground) rather than pushing back the other way.
Our side keeps talking about lost rights, which to non-gun owners is less persuasive than the safety argument. We should be warning people that O'Malley is taking advantage of Newton, offering them a false sense of security with arbitrary, ineffectual restrictions on guns. What we need is more policing, better defended schools, and better mental health care; these solutions are proven to work.
When this bill passes O'Malley will have succeeded in the eyes of the uninformed. By arguing about our rights instead of safety we are losing the opportunity to cut off his victory. This issue has been hijacked by people who care more about banning guns than actually making society safer. The evidence is on our side.
If the Communists in the General Assembly were interested in public safety they wouldn't have engaged in Chicago style voting to remove Delegate Smiegiel's amendment to the bill. This turd of a bill has nothing to do with safety, and everything to do with ensuring Democrats have a malleable and defenseless group of subjects to impose socialism and tyranny upon.
