Anyone know if these are legal to buy in or transfer in to a ffl in md given the new laws. If they cant be bought in MD can one be bought in PA in person and brought home to MD, like the mags are? Thanks for any info.

If it's the HBAR model, it's GTG.

Just make sure your FFL knows how to handle it.

Newer ones I've seen have a tapered barrel under the handguard, meaning it's banned and you cannot legally buy one. You can always call S&W customer service and ask if they sell an HBAR version.

All the ones I've seen have the barrel thin behind the gas block/front sight, but still without the little step that would make it M4 profile. However, I know quite a few people who have bought them in MD as unregulated.

I have the Sporter model. It is NOT HBAR. With the exception if the forward assist, and the inner barrel coating, it is pretty much MilSpec. This includes the pencil barrel.

That being said, mine is a great rifle, I don't even miss the FA or dust cover.
