    If you can get the bit and rivet out of the trunnion, it can be salvaged... But getting it out can be quite a challenge.

    We easily got the bit and rivet out, just egged the hole a bit. It actually isn't as bad as we thought. I think we will be just fine

    I can bring a 10" bench top drill press if needed. I'll bring a cooler with some soda and donuts for food.

    I've tempered and cleaned up my receivers. At this point, I have three things left as major assembly:

    * Install rear trunnion for the stock
    * Install center support
    * Press barrel back in.

    Once complete, I can install the FCGs, furniture and test-fire. I have two rifles to complete so I hope to leave with two AKs. :)

    If anyone has an extra retainer plate, I'd be happy to buy it from you. I have only one. I can do one rifle as a pure Romy G with original hardware including the retaining wire but I'd like to upgrade it while I'm assembling.

    Looking forward to the completion stage!

    I'm in the garage gathering up tools now. Wanted to try and heat treat /temper the holes on the receivers, but haven't done it before. Anyone have a good how to or tips? Or should I just wait till tomorrow? I'm bringing torches so should I wait till I'm surrounded by the experts??

    Wait till tomorrow. It doesn't take long and they did a great job helping me.

    Thanks for a great party TC. I may have been the last to use the headspace gauges and snap cap. I put them in the lower tray of your tackle box with all the fcg parts in it. Forgot to tell you when I put them there.

    Awesome, I found them. They were right where you put them. Thanks!

    Hey thanks for the great party and all your help. I'm glad you found the box I just got home and noticed it was missing. also I'm pretty sure the yellow and black hammer is mine.

    I hope that everyone had fun and learned something. My last count for the day there were at least 6 AKs finished today! Four of those were taken to the back section of my property and test fired.

    I can't honestly tell you when I can host another build party. We have season passes to Kings Dominion and our favorite time of the year to go is in the fall during Halloween Haunt which ends the first weekend in November this year. So it will probably be early next spring unless people don't mind building AKs with coats and gloves. :)

    I believe the 1/4" stainless rod and hand reamer belong to Doug (don't know his screen name) and sand paper may also belong to FoodPoison.
    Thanks for hosting the party and everyone that offered their help and tools. Learned alot

    It was fun. Who can say it's fun to break a NDS receiver? Well, the receiver has character now! This shows how dumb Maryland law is. Kill the receiver an you can't replace it after three months of waiting to get it:sad20:

    I still spent more time driving then at the party, I'll do it again in a heart beat!

    I have to thank TC617 have the party, seeing the virgin kits come to life without a mill was something to behold. Thanks to Stillserving for the 24" bolt cutter handles. It worked great on the rivets even after somebody snapped the adjustment bolt off.

    The biggest thanks is the all the guys that welded my broken, blown out NDS receiver! Just put 100 rounds thru it:D:D:D

    Emory paper, end mills, and outlet strip are mine.

    Apologies to all who had the press, drill, and vise swiped out from under them. I feel really, really, really bad about that. (Cub Scouts moved an activity up from 6pm to 2pm, forcing my early retreat.) Still, it was great to meet you guys in person, and I learned a hell of a lot in the time I was there. I still feel like a noob, though.
