    Check with Duffy's or Bollingers.

Any gunsmith should be able to do this.

Thanks for the suggestions. I was told by gunsmith in Glen Burnie that they couldn't do it because it was SS so I assumed "any" gunsmith couldn't. I'll check these suggestions out.

Then they were not a gunsmith or something is missing from the story.

Unless the barrel cant be removed from the gun, is too thin for the thread pattern you want or to machine a shoulder then it's threadable.

I've not heard that (and I have had stainless barrels threaded) so I googled it.

The Internet definitely states that stainless is harder and easier to machine than chrom-moly. :wtf: After that, I got lost in the lingo of machinists: back rake, helix, 29 degrees.

There are gunsmiths that aren't machinists.

Yea, looks like I'll be able to get my barrel threaded after all. I won't go into who the gunsmith was but they just told me SS was to hard. It was for a bull barrel AR15 but they never asked for details. I just asked if they could thread a ss barrel for a silencer or flash hider and they replied ss was to hard. I assumed it couldn't be done until I inquired here. Thanks for the help!
