I have an old Traditions Lightening model, bolt action muzzleloader with a plastic black stock. I got the bright idea to improve its looks and balance with a black/grey pepper laminate stock ( I really hate plastic stocks) NO one makes a replacement stock for this gun, so I bought an uninletted stock thinking I could inlet it myself working off the original stock as a "template".
Now I'm thinking, not such a good idea, I don't have the proper tools or the skills. I've re-finished stocks before and done minor adjustments in inletting but I think I've bitten off more than I can chew on this one.
Does anyone know of a woodworker/stocksmith that can do inletting work?
