This was my first and last purchase from Dicks, not only did it take about an hour with the terrible customer service, but by the time I was escorted out of the store, I felt like a common criminal.

Well I thought I was the only one, I am not sure if its just policy to be discreet or they are just arsehole, but they really come off a--holes. Especially the managers. But the silver lining is you got your takedown, which is hard to find from what I hear.

I have to caveat that with, that was my most recent experience at there NOVA location. I had a decent experience at the Gaithersburg one, NIC's (on hold )slowed them down and they keep on apologizing about the delay.

I'm not sure to be honest, is that not the case in Virginia?

I'm talking about the feeling like a criminal thing. The last time I bought a firearm at Dick's, it was a pump shotgun. It took 10 minutes, and I was escorted out by the clerk, all the while discussing the upcoming dove season.

Doesn't seem to be the case at NOVA Dick's, its like you got the plague, walk you to the door as fast as possible have a nice day don't let the door hit you on the way out.

But yes its the same in VA, walk you to the door and kick you out as fast as they can, I am just bitter

I bought one yesterday from Dicks in Waldorf. Surprisingly I had a great experience, the guy who helped was kind, quick and knowledgeable. The manager was fine. Even the cashier was nice. I was talked right into buying a youth Rossi 22/410 as long as I was filling out paperwork.

I'm usually quite disappointed when I go to any of their stores, not so yesterday.

They walk you out at Bass Pro too. Eh, it's just corporate policy. They're just limiting liability. That said, I was a little ticked the first time I was walked out there, even though I knew better...

    Congrats on getting the takedown.

Don't 'sweat' being escorted out of the store.

In today's environment, that's no big deal.
I've been buying firearms for more years than you'd care to hear about.
I've even had one shop carry the firearm out to my car, and put it in the trunk!!!!!!

Oh!!!! I felt great!!! Here I am. . . . a 6'-5" guy that's 250+ lbs, and some little girl (young lady) carried out my new shotgun!!!!!

    Eh......... no big deal. Really.

The un-educated people in today's society, all think that "Joe Gunbuyer" is going to whip that new ________ out, in the store, and start shooting the place up.
    (Hey!!!!!! I did say 'un-educated'!!)

    Enjoy your new 10/22!!

Ok folks it has nothing to do with who you are or who the sales person is, all the big box chain stores will escort folks out because some lawyer and insurance co said to get coverage they must do xyz. It's just like at the hospital you go in for a broken finger get it taped up and the nurse say I must wheel you out to your car u can't walk cause some lawyer and some insurance co said they must. One reason you don't see this at the stand alone gun shops is all the shop employees are armed and that over comes it. Also at the big box stores I'm sure the marketing folks at some point said its better to get the guns out quick when they are not in there corner of the store (guns not gun folks). This is just my guess as a business owner I can tell you the lawyers and insurance co dictate what policy is set 99% of the time.
