  • I like Cruz, but his 4A analogy about exempting certain individuals from protection against unreasonable searches and seizures is weak. Also, I wish the pro-2As would pounce on it every time someone like Finestein starts talking about "American [civilians] don't need bazookas", when she knows, but many in the public are too stupid to know that civilians can't own them. Also, it irks me that pro-2As don't call BS whenever an anti utters the words "high-powered" with reference to so-called assault weapons, or rub their noses in the definition of assault weapons as full-auto.

Right now, though, I'm trying to figure out how those "imploding bullets" would work.

YES! I would have loved for him to point out that if a citizen calls the police because of a home invasion the officers will come armed with an ar15 to that citizen's house in case it's needed against the very same criminal that the citizen is already facing. How in the world did bazookas come into the conversation?

How the **** has that hateful bitch been in the senate for 20 years? California voters must be retarded or something. Ted Cruz is the man!

Typical liberal democratic response. When confronted with facts, go off on a tangent and spout off nonsensical gibberish that has no truth to it and attempt to sidetrack the point.

Just one day, wouldn't it be nice to not have a WTF moment. For example, this line from Durbin, "none of these rights are absolute". Huh? I guess if you have a " do as I say and when I say you can" filter on when reading the constitution. My goodness, the masks are falling off.

I agree with Cruz's approach. Quibbling over what constitutes an assault weapon, or standard vs high capacity ammunition clips (sic) is really just playing with words and plays into the antis' hand. To me, Cruz's line of questioning demonstrates the intellectual bankruptcy the antis have on this issue. Feinstein had NO answer, and ultimately conceded the point. The bully got smacked in the mouth today.

...Sen. Dianne Feinstein likens owning a so called assault weapon to child pornography... :mad54:

I was a little disappointed Cruz didn't immediately highlight how ridiculous it is to compare adjustable stocks & pistol grips to the worst of all crimes.

Can you imagine if he had said "excuse me madam, I thought I just heard you compare the act of owning a modern sporting rifle- similar to the one Mark Kelly just purchased- to r*ping children....is that correct Senator?"

As a transplanted northern Californian, she's remained in office for the same reason we had O'Malley, Glendening, Mikulski, Cardin, etc; California politics are dominated by Democrat-majority districts which account for a majority of the state's population. If you look at the 2012 voting trends, a slim majority of the counties went Republican; however, the inland farming communities and the redneck West-Virgina-on-the-West-Coast part of the state where I'm from up north are completely blown away by the coastal liberal bastions running from SF to SD (minus OC but us northerners can't stand them on principle regardless).

As a Californian, wish it weren't this way but that's reality; Feinstein and Boxer are here to stay.

For Cruz, good on him, but he still comes across as Brainy Smurf; intellectual but condescending, so he doesn't win over any converts vs playing to the base. OK dude, great, you lectured on Feinstein and i liked how you ruffled the old hag's feathers, but I already agree with you; you don't need to convince me, you need to convince the dumb schmuck who's still on the fence. Drop the attitude, add some charm backed by facts, and fire for effect.

    Waiting for the flames:smack:

So making, distributing, and possessing child pornography is akin to owning a personal defense weapon? Really? So we should probably do something about those armies full of kiddie-porn rifles that we are sending around the world...

Agreed. But I think that Feinstein and all the rest have heard all the arguments and are making a moral decision over a logical one. Even if there were absolute evidence that were completely irrefutable, you would still see them saying "We need to increase gun control"

Or for a better example where there is irrefutable evidence that there is a HUGE problem: "We will not decrease funding to Medicare".

We need to have an age limit on politicians say you're out at 60 years of age. If that were the case old hag Frankinstein would have been booted out 25 years ago. She's old her mind is gone...lol

Careful: Reagan (69 at the start of his 1st term), Ike (62), Ford (61), and Bush (64) all go bye-bye. While some may be in favor of that, being old alone doesn't mean they should go.

True, but nothing will convince Feinstein, Schumer, Levin, Bloomberg, etc. They are locked in just like we are. We need to message the other folks, the ones who aren't locked in...and unfortunately, some of that involves image/message control on our part (which we're willing to do, e.g. all the talk about showing up clean cut and respectful to testify, the great Patrick/Smokey discussion on the 6MAR thread, etc). There are places and persons for messages that play to the base (I'm SOOOO looking for a reason to go shopping at Engage after Andy's rant:party29:) but Cruz needs to message the undecideds.

'Course, it's all academic because Feinstein's bill will die in the House.

Perhaps a little OT but in line with the current discussion, I look at people like Feinstein and wonder what radicals must share the same ideals as this woman to agree with her. Perhaps I choose not surround myself with such filth but, MOST people whom I have talked with which may not even own a firearm dont seem to care about the agenda this woman is pushing. So my question is who is she serving ?

These are people we have elected to govern our country in a manner consistent with our wishes not personal agendas.

In all of our troubles I really think that politicians are focusing on gun control because they cant balance a budget without visibly disrupting lives by cutting jobs. I think the agenda is 2 fold, disarm american citizens and lay cover for the conomic mess that is going on in our country let alone the world.
