Please ignore how disgusting my reloading bench is.

    Top dark wood is a February ‘42 S.A. with a 1949 S.A. barrel both +2 barrel ratings. SN 4*****

Bottom is a October’43 with a April ‘45 barrel, +1 muzzle and +2 throat, SN 2*******. Picks of third to follow when it arrives.

Credit card hit today for 1xSpecial Rack.
Nearly 5 months to the day. I received an email saying that it would ship in the next couple of days.

I had to take today off work to be at home today when the FedEx man comes with my Rack Special.

At 3:40am this morning it left Memphis, TN
At 6:18am this morning it was at the Dulles, VA Sorting Facility
At 9:02am this morning it was on the truck in Waldorf, MD for delivery to Northern Calvert County.

The last one showed up around 4pm. I didn't want to take a chance on it coming early so I took the whole day off.
The wife gets home from work at 4:30pm.
It would be in the best interest of my marriage if he gets here before she comes home.

Fingers crossed - it hasn't shown up yet....

Sucks having to burn 8 hours of Annual Leave just waiting around on the FedEx man all day.

Can't even leave the house to run errands until he shows up. My luck I would miss him and I'd have to take tomorrow off too for the second delivery attempt.

Ya I was lucky in that I was able to work from home for a few days and it not affect anything then today, I’m up in New Jersey for work but my brother happened to be at the house and sign for it.

    I love that 6-digit 1942 you got.
Does the stock have any markings on it?

The Rack Special arrived safe and sound.

Pictured below are all my CMP rifles.

The bottom one is the one that came in today, a Rack Special Springfield Armory. The SA receiver is a February 1943 with a brand new barrel (2/21), new stock, a IHC bolt and a stamped trigger guard.

The second from the bottom is a Service Grade Springfield Armory. The SA receiver is a May 1944 with a SA 1955 barrel, new stock, SA Bolt and a Muzzle 1 and Throat 2 readings. The trigger guard is an earlier milled one.

The third one up is a Service Grade Springfield Armory. The receiver SA receiver is a December 1943 with a SA 1943 barrel with a Muzzle 1 and Throat 2 readings and it came with a Springfield bolt but Charlie Maloney changed it out for an HRA bolt that he said fit better. The stock is not new, fairly dinged up with no cartouches. The trigger guard is an earlier milled one. This one has been given the Charlie Maloney treatment including a trigger job.

The top one is a CMP 1903A3 I bought off a MDS member. It was manufactured in April 1943 and has a 1943 barrel on it with a Muzzle .5 and Throat 1 readings. It has an older stock with a a faint ordnance wheel and FJA (Frank J. Atwood) cartouche and a "P" stamp on underside of stock.

I have Turner Saddlery M1907 leather slings ordered for all four but I guess they are backed up on their orders.

The safe is full...as much as I want a 1942 Garand, I simply don't have room for it.

My rifle shipped today. I have a tracking number and it'll arrive tomorrow (May 20th) exactly 5 months to the day, from the date of receipt of my package at the CMP.
Wife works from home, so she'll be there to sign for it.

Very Nice - love the GI wood. I was a little disappointed both the ones I got directly from CMP had new stocks. Makes me kind of glad I bought the Service Grade with GI stock off GB.

I like the new CMP wood HOWEVER, I hate that the butt plate is either too small or the butt is too big for it because I really can’t stand how there’s a good 1/8”-1/4” lip all the way around. I’m gonna get an original GI butt plate to replace it with and hopefully that will fit better. But I am really glad I got one with GI wood but would have rather gotten them all with GI wood. I suppose I could always get a used stock
