I bought a Luminox blackout watch about two months ago. I wore it every day and night, taking it off in the shower, for about a month and a half and then I began developing a nasty rash on the side of my wrist where the band was contacting me. I stopped wearing it for two weeks and it healed up. Then I wore it the past three days on a trip to Germany and I had to take it off and put it away today because me wrist is breaking out in that rash again. I've tried scrubbing the band with soap and hot water. Any other ideas or do I need to find a band that is made out of a different material?
Sounds like you developed a latex allergy. Ditch the band.
I've heard of people, specifically violinists, developing an allergy to the nickel used in plating their chinrest hardware. Found that surprising.
I used to carry a leather wallet in rt hip pocket until I got a rectangular red patch on my butt - through layers of cloth. Forty years later, when it gets real hot and humid, the red patch will sometimes reoccur and itch. More info than you wanted, probably.
I wonder if you will eventually get a reaction from the material that makes up the watch case?
