Thanks. This and my GP100 were the only guns in my meager collection that I really pined over for a long time.

    Bad ass!!

Looking fir someone to Demo the BTS? I’m sure i could find a yote or two ;)

After I get to try it! Haha I ended up getting blue balled on a coyote hunt. We piles in and went to the BOTC PRS match in Douglas, WY and ended up having no time to call in some dogs.

Here are some sweet AR setups I saw:

Just got done sighting in and test firing, form 1 NFA stamp took all of 16 days, less time than it took for the parts to arrive. 6" BA 300BO 1:7 5R barrel Aero M4E1 receivers/no FA version, RTB/toolcraft bolt, Maxim CQB stock(Std buffer/spring) Griffin linear comp/suppressor mount, 7" Aero Quantum handguard(not my 1st or 5th choice, but was in stock), Radian Raptor/talon, Geisele GRF trigger, magpul grips. Tucks about 2" of can, so the guards don't get all that hot like a deeper tucked can will, and with the linear comp clearing the guards by about 1/2" it's shootable with or without, and not much blast when unsuppressed.

Runs supers 100% with or without a can, tried 5 different loads from 110-150gr, brass in a neat pile at 4:00. Subs are 100% with a can, they cycle, but won't lock back without it. Was a little worried between the PDW stocks short buffer setup and all of 1.5" of dwell / .105" port, but it feels about perfect. I did seat the gas block and dimple/rockset the screws to seal up the gas system, and the linear comp does give a little more backpressure than other muzzle devices. It's giggle quiet with subs and the can, quieter than my 9" for some reason.

I know this his isn't a full rifle but I've begun a journey to my dream build. I hope I'm able to get an AEM5 next year. While I'm not concerned about in a nuts and bolts clone, but rather a replica so I will use decent components as it is my halo gun.

My wife isn’t happy…because I just popped a chubby! Nice buy!!

If you want to do a clone correct 80 percent lower, I know a guy with all the jigs who can also do custom electro-etching.

After building my MK12 at SOTAR a couple of years ago, I got the urge to build a RECCE rifle. Fortunately, after a two year wait, I was able to find the barrel I wanted in stock. Still need to figure out what stock I want to permanently put on and swap the bipod. Other than that, it’s built the way I want it. Next will be the optic and mount.

Centurion 16” mid length gas RECCE barrel
Centurion upper and lower receiver set
    Centurion AST 2 stage trigger
    KAC NT4 flash suppressor
    KAC URX 3.1 13.5” rail
    KAC front and rear BUIS
    Colt BCG
    Vltor EMod stock kit

I am not a Mod 0 fan but that is a nice upper. Looks you got it straight from PRI too. So you know you got the best possible replica. Great choice. I built a Mod 1 clone as close as I could to the real deal except for a couple of parts. But that didn’t add anything to it. So going the replica route is a good idea to save some $$$$.

I have a 5D Tactical router jig but if you could pm your guy's info I'd like to reach out to him about the electro-etching.

Kicking it 90's style tonight and caught the opening to naked gun 33 1/3. I'd completely forgotten he pops up with this AR. Couldn't decide to put it here or the NFA side. Was this a commercial product or just a movie prop? No fsb and a sight hood on the front of the carry handle. I kinda dig it.

    I like those.

The rifle I had in Basic Training (4,786,107) in 1989 was a legit M16A1, and fell under this block of rifles produced:

    4,000,000 series Colt’s

    4,701,901-4,844,400
    1971
    US Property marked M16A1.

Mine didn't have the built-in brass deflector that's common to the design at this point. Mine also had the same style hand guards as the one in the top pic, although I suspect that originally it had the classic "triangle" handguards as the one at the bottom, and were simply swapped out at some point.

I wonder how many rounds my rifle had digested between when it was new in 1971 and when I had it in 1989, and whether or not it had been rebuilt. That rifle was so loose it rattled terribly, and the gas rings on the bolt would typically line up somewhere between 30 and 40 rounds, causing a lack of pressure that would cause cycling/feeding issues. Strangely, the one time we were at the range where I actually fired 40 rounds without a malfunction was qualification day.

    I think I had that rifle before you did! I had my M16A1 83 - 86.

Meaning you had an old M16A1 that rattled, or you legitimately had that same serial number? That would be an unbelievable coincidence if it was actually the same SN.

We were told to memorize our SN's, so I did - I've always had a good memory for numbers like that, and I never forgot it. I went years being able to recite that number, and at one point I wondered if I actually remembered it correctly - 4786107, and it was number 98 in the rack.

Then I stumbled upon my weapons card from Basic Training, and it confirmed it. I still have it.
