Even the British will make fun of that accent. Just like here in the States, where certain regional accents are looked down upon. It might not be fair (just because you might sound like a hick, doesn't mean you're not an intelligent person), but whoever said life was fair. I'm from WV, and had a bit of an accent when I moved here 30 years ago. Took about a year of my then girlfriend thinking the accent was "cute" and commenting on certain words to break me of it.

Umm.... ahhhh...... er...... Sorry. Can't help you there. The best and brightest were forced out of the UK over the past 400 years. I had hoped that the re-infusion of US DNA into the UK gene pool from 1941 to 1945 would have helped, but it seems I'm wrong.
