In a van, down by the river.
    Sig P226, 9mm.
It stuck before, but I got it loose.
Supposed to be 13.5 X 1, Left hand thread
Clockwise, tried by hand. CCW, again tried by hand. Nothing.
Wrapped with towel to protect finish, tried CW and CCW with Channel-lock pliers.
Heated thread protector over gas flame, Tried both CW and CCW.
Filled baggie with ice and water, wrapped around barrel and TP, tried with pliers again.

I think my next step may be dremeling grooves in it for better grip, and if that doesn't work, dremeling it off.

Suggestions? Should I tap the face of it with a small hammer? Or put the firearm in the freezer?

Perhaps this is frowned upon, but feels like one of those WD40 heals all situations.

How long has it been on and have you been shooting lead bullets? I shoot nothing but lead and get buildup in the muzzle break that sometimes makes removal difficult. I now let the barrel sit in Shooters Choice lead remover over night and it usually comes off the next day.

Sadly I have not fired this in months, and have had the thread protector on/off several times since.

Almost sounds like it is cross-threaded. I use PB Blaster for stuck things. I think I would put it in the freezer and then just heat the protector with a torch briefly.

Torch and Channel-Locks did it. No sign of cross threading. Threads right back on, but I left it loose for now.
Is the thread protector aluminum? If so, you should treat the barrel threads with Aeroshell 64 grease. If it wants to come loose, put a Viton 'o' ring on first as a washer.
