Truth is Alexandra and Fairfax rule the state now in voting power. The rest of the state is lost to higher taxes and bad legislation from this point forward.

The issue isn't just "here." We will have a national election. The winner will be Trump, or it will be one of the people in the party that has indeed swung leftwards into an embrace of socialism as the central thesis for their vision of governance. You don't want people to vote for Trump, which leaves one viable option. How is this confusing, or "(here)" in some way?

State and local elections are always very different from national elections. Obama wiped out Dems at the state and local level.

People perceive local and national dems very differently. Some Dems in PA and VA are further right than Republicans in MD.

Why this surprises anyone is beyond me. Demography is destiny and Leesburg looks like the Star Wars cantina scene. Nice folks - but they are not gun owners and are not real nice to the party of strict immigration.

a few facts I have yet to be shown about this election in the Senate race. first there were 10 Democrats running with no opposition whatsoever. that number becomes 14 if you add in Independent runners. another fact 39000 more Republicans came out to vote then Democrats. this information is from the Washington post if you would like a link I can Include 1.

Being scared of politicians is nonsense

Scared of politicians? Clarify please. I sincerely doubt anyone on this forum is scared of any politician. It's their actions that bothers me and I only see it getting worse everywhere. This is not about what's best for the country. It's about power and control. Say what you want but right now the dems seem to have a game plan that is more effective.

Well, some of us have no intention of voting for either Trump (again) or the party that has indeed swung leftwards into an embrace of socialism as the central thesis for their vision of governance. Period. Some of us have simply...had enough of the BS and want no further part of it, yet, we'll be labeled as 'socialists' and 'dimocraps' here (anyway) simply because of that.

But kindly point to where any of us have said, "Don't vote for Trump! Vote Democrat!" because you won't find it no matter how deep you dig and in the end, all that you have is fear as a motivator. Sorry, it's not a good enough reason this time for me to drag my ass to the polls and pull the lever for four more years of this toxic shitshow.

Just saw Northam on Ch 11 news saying "gun control" is first thing on the list. :sad20:

Of course. So what do they do after they get their utopian gun control? Start controlling knives?

Will be interesting how people of a semi-free state react to draconian restrictions...

What I keep pointing to, mostly in the form of repeatedly asking this question again is: OK then, who DO you want to win? Who - specifically - do you think is the actually viable candidate that ought to have your vote? Always crickets on that topic.

Well, Warren or Sanders would motivate me. As much of a shitshow Trump is, the prospect of destroying 25%+ of the economy to hand out terrible care is insane. Even Europe does not go as far as Warren. Warren is dangerous because she could win.

I'm curious as well. Chantilly gun show will be a thing of the past when they ban the so called "assault rifles" and mags over 10. Plus anything else they want to get away with now. Shame VA lost to these control freaks.

    Who are the Republicans running?

There is only one viable person on the GOP ticket. Which you know. I wasn't looking for a rhetorical question in lieu of a name, I'm looking for the name of an actual human that you think can be elected, and who you will spend your time here constructively supporting, instead of using the guy whose style you can't stand as a thinly veiled proxy through which to tell people here that they're morons, or blind, or uninformed, or worse for being pragmatic about what it takes to keep a President Warren (or worse) from replacing at least Ginsburg, Sotomayor, Breyer, Thomas and dozens of lower federal seats.

We don't know which person/team the Dems will go with, but they've gone so far off the cliff into crazy-town, policy-preference-wise, that it really doesn't matter. At best, it's Biden, though he's now committed to gun-taking and more insanity on health care, immigration, etc. More likely it will be someone far, far leftier and loopier and disingenuous.

You've got a GOP that understands what's at stake - in the judiciary, regulatory matters, and so much more - and of course won't waste members' money and time backing intra-party rivals. GOP voters are well over 90% behind the one campaign that's also raising record amounts of money. So it's Trump, or it's whoever the Dems settle on.

Which, with any chance of actually holding office, are you saying people should vote for? Because all the smack talk aimed at Trump here can't really be mistaken for anything except protracted work to talk people out of voting for the only viable GOP candidate. Which is defacto support for the only remaining option. All the foot-stamping umbrage about distaste for his China policy, or the new Mex/Can/US trade agreement's dynamics, or going after al Baghdadi, or whatever else it is that really gets under the skin is just aimed at pealing people away from voting for him, or voting at all.

Yes, Maryland's EC votes are going for Democrat X, regardless. But we can help defang their endless bitching about the popular vote by contributing to a number that will take the fun and the rhetorical value out of that for them.

I'll have to wait to see who the RNC is going to put up when Trump is removed or resigns.

And again with the assertions of what's about to happen! You've GOT to let us in on the secret source of information you have that the majority of the senate doesn't. You are super-well connected. To, what, I'm not sure!

No, not Dimocrap and definitely not a socialist. Those groups vote.

You sir, are simply bad at math.

Apologies for missing that question. I don't recall it ever being asked.

Truth is, I no longer care. I really don't. Politics has degenerated into a form of cheap entertainment for folks who enjoy all the breathless melodrama of a bad soap opera and want to be a part of it. Politics is a convenient and BS-excuse for certain members of this group to ignore, unfriend and otherwise declare 'enemies' because they don't happen share exactly the same F'd-up view of the world so, in lieu of further fanning the flames of derision, I'll answer by saying, "None Of The Above" for now. The election is still a year away. Can I get back to you on that? Or, are you demanding my oath of loyalty to Trump right now? Thanks in advance.
