So, It's my intention to bring a couple guns up to MD for a weekend later this year to shoot on my friend's private property.

I'd like to bring my AR-15, Krinkov AK pistol with brace, and my glock 34.

Since i'm a VA resident, do I have any laws to contend with apart from the transportation storage regulations?

    Thanks

Yes, no one can possess a banned firearm that was purchased after Oct 1, 2013 in the state of MD.

Mags can be loaded and only can not be in the firearm. Search, there is an AG letter posted here that states taht loaded mags are OK.

If transiting THROUGH a state, like NC to MD, through VA, you need to meet the requirements of FOPA, which does require ammo and firearm to be separated. Or one of the two in locked container.
