That's what the older folks in the family would call it. And I had a great time there last week. I took my 12 y.o. son rafting down on the New River Gorge. It got a little hairy when he went overboard after we hit a big rock in the river. It was an all day affair with a resort down in the area. Then we drove up to Seneca State Forest and stayed in a pioneer cabin for a couple nights. We went to Cass and rode the old locomotive on a shorter trip up the mountain. It is down in the national quiet zone, a great place to just relax and forget about the rest of the world.

I am trying how to figure out a place to hunt down there. It is a long way to go and that does not leave much time to scout deer before the season starts.

i thought that's what everyone called it... ahaha

i've never hunted in wva but they do have wildlife mgmt areas, state and nat'l forests and that's where i'd start checking out. with little to no scouting though not sure what your prospects would be.

Now that you have a place right in the center of all that fun activity you and your family will have to partake of some of those attractions just mentioned. Although you have your own pioneer cabin to stay in.

I'm rapidly thinking of the day when I can permanently move there.... to my surprise, Janet isn't pushing back on the idea :-)

That is God' country. I used to fish the New in Virginia, it was the best Small Mouth Bass fishing I have ever experienced.
