    This may be fun to think about, but keep in mind that it will never EVER happen. This has been talked about off and on for years and years and years on the Eastern Shore -- there is zero chance of it happening.

    It will never happen, if the people of Western Maryland don't make their voices heard. I've been trying to find out all of the logistics involved with this. I'm also trying to find a way to contact the guy who brought this up and find out what needs done to actually make a go of this.

    Yes, I it may be a waste of time but, if you don't try you'll never know what the result could have been. Nothing is easy in this world.

    Since I'm from Carroll County, I'm in(or out as the case would be). There was an article in the Carroll County times the other day about this, said that this would require the approval of the Maryland legislature. So two chances, fat and none.

    It would be easier to get MoCo, Baltimore City, PG County, DC, and Howard County to be a State. This allows DC to be part of a state.

    How about we sell "West MD" to the highest bidder state - give the cash to the greedy side of MD to let us go (MD Gov. would go for that - if it went in their pockets) :innocent0

    Garrett Co has always been more closely connected to Pittsburgh and Morgantown than Baltimore or DC anyway. Just makes sense to stick with that.

    It doesn't seem like to me this solves any problem. If any of these areas were to break off and form their own states what's to stop them from going progressive in the future and how long before they go progressive. It seems to me we need to take back the states we already have. Some how! :shrug:

    Remember, forming a new state would give them a chance to write their own state constitution... Imagine the wonderful things we could include if we wrote a state constitution... :D
