What exactly goes into the MSP background check?

I've read that they check 17 separate criminal and medical databases, then check NICS.

What are those databases?

One would be MD Health and Hygiene (AKA Heath Department). That would be the one I would agree with them using, and you specifically sign off on it when applying.

They are probably doing warrant and protection order checks in surrounding states, other than that I'm confused.

All jokes aside, I'd like to know exactly what they're checking. I want to show that it already is comprehensive, but I have to check facts first.

Well, look at the questions on the 77r.

I guess they check for pending charges, since they ask about it.

Records of protective orders.

Dui records in MD.

DMV records to validate name and address and age.

They might check their database to see if you are a designated collector or not.

They might check to see if they have processed any other apps in the last 30 days for the same person.

juvenile records for persons less than 30 years of age.

Possibly military records to see if there is a dishonorable discharge.

The list of assault weapons and handgun roster would count as a database i suppose, so they could check those to make sure the firearm is legal in md.
