    SP101 (8-shots of .22LR) great alternative.

I have one that I am looking at parting with only because of eye and shaky hand issues in case anyone is seriously interested. They are very accurate ( since Ruger sized the bore to .22 LR and not .22 Mag) and the grip size is between a Smith J frame and K frame. I put aftermarket grips on that feel better than the originals. They make good woods walking guns.

Two older well made pistols in 9mm, that should fit you are the S&W Model 3913 Ladysmith and the Star M43, they can be found for sale on Gun Broker, but will be harder to try out in person. Another one to try is the Sig Sauer P238 in 380 ACP.

I'm back from Continental Arms! Because of my schedule, I could only rent one so rented the XDs 9mm. Fired 50 rounds with it. The trigger safety took some getting used to. The trigger also got stuck on round 47 or something (is that normal?). Had to have someone get it unstuck for me. Other than that one issue, I really liked it! It was a little snappier than I was expecting, but not horrible. Nothing I won't get used to. I figure guns are like barbells (I also am in to powerlifting), once you build enough the callouses in the right places, it is no longer is an issue.

The trigger sticking is probably more due to usage as a rental gun than anything. The barbell analogy is a good one. You certainly won't go wrong with the XD. To get used to the kick, you might want to try two or three boxes of Winchester W Train and Defend ammo. It has reduced recoil. Then start working full recoil into the mix.

you had mentioned XDs 9mm, do you mean the slim XD9S? I felt like the recoil was 20% greater on the S series pistols due to the lighter weight and less to hold on to. I prefer the XD9 Sub compact (especially the mod2). It fits better in my hands and the recoil is somewhat reduced. If you are planning to carry the gun though, the S series is nice. I know at least a few gun store owners who have the XD45S as their everyday carry

Good to know about the trigger. That's what I was hoping.

Thanks for the ammo suggestion. Might just do that.

    I concur.

    Congrats.

    Thanks!

I'm not sure what the slim XD9S is. I tried Googling it and keep coming up with the XDs 9mm.

I have tiny hands, so if the XD9 sub compact fits your hands, it is not going to fit mine. That's the reason for the XDs, not to carry it. Though if/when I move back to Ohio, I may be carrying. It fits my hands and was the most comfortable to hold.

I recommend a Kahr CW9 if you want a smaller handgun or a good (although boring) Glock 19

Picked up my XDs this afternoon and spent a little time at the range. I like it and definitely learned the importance of staying tight through my arms. That being said, I'm much more comfortable clearing jams now. I also learned that ejected cases burn if left on the skin for more than a second or so.

Once this powerlifting meet is over, and my arms/shoulders aren't always tired from lifting, I think things will be a lot better.
