What to pay for a Gerand ?

Now that I have a case of good ammo for it, how much am I looking @ for a decent Gerand ? I heard theres a program that alows you to purchase a Gerand through the government. Is this true ? My father (god rest his soul) had 2 of them (about 15 years ago) I know he paid $800 for 1, that was in fair condition. I know you get what you pay for, but I would like to get a decent one.

You're looking for the Civilian Marksmanship Program, they sell surplus Garands.
