So it'll be another two months before I get back home to Indiana, and since that'll be my Xmas leave, I'll be in the market for a present to myself. I have a few ideas, but since I can only pick one, I'm coming to you, ladies and gentlemen, and asking your opinions. I'll throw out the list of what I have and what I'd like. Looking for input based on your previous experience.

Okay, okay, it's a slow Friday night and I'm too pumped about next weekend to wait on paring down the list!

    Own -
    Springer 1911
    XD45 Service
    M38
    M44
    Mossy 930

    Want -
AR (plan to build, leaning toward .308)
    SKS
Sig P229 .40S&W (other options are S&W M&P or XDM)
Springer M1A (don't think I can justify the Rem 700 yet, gotta practice more)
any other EBR y'all can recommend:D (besides the XCR, I'll make my own judgment on those next weekend)

Bear in mind, being military, I do have a limited budget (unless y'all wanna pay more taxes:innocent0), but I trust your opinions and would like to hear them!

[mutter]Good God, this is an expensive addiction [/mutter]

Go EBR - By November you'll have a good idea on just how much longer they will be available. The others will be around for a little while longer.

Why not have ye a Kalashnikov?

If I were you I'd grab a copy of the recent proposed AWB's and use that as a shopping list. I for one would love a revolver but I can get one later. I'm between an H&K USP .45 tactical and SBR UZI 9mm (trying to grab one in any case since Vector is out of business) myself... don't you hate these decisions? You jump on one thing, and feel satisfied for only a few months before the itch comes back... :S

FAL. Just do it. I once fought off 1337 zombies with nothing but an FAL, a can of Slim Jims, and 1.5 packs of Bubble Yum. True story. Buy me a few beers and I'll tell you all about it. :innocent0

With. I forgot to add that I ran out of ammo and finished off the last few zombies with nothing but the pointy end of a drink umbrella and a sack of Trader Joe's Pistacios.

[note to self]Now where was that Gaydar file, and can I fit Rattler's entire name... :)

It's about time you justified those drink umbrellas.

BTW, make sure you spell my name right in your file. ;)

I find that hard to swallow. Even my dogs won't eat slim jims.

Someday when sks's are $600 for one with a cracked stock you'll kick yourself in the butt for not buying one when they were "only" $250.

EBR's have seriously come down in price over the past 4 years and I really don't think we'll see a new AWB anytime too soon. We'll see lots of attempts, but too many more seats still needs to change in Congress for that to pass, and even then they'll have to do it in a way that shoots themselves in the foot for the following election.

You can pick up a couple of cases of ammo for the sks and the rifle itself and still not destroy your wallet.

Region Rat, born and bred. Grew up in Griffith, right between the south sides of Hammond and Gary. I hear you on the difference in gun laws. Every trip home, I pull over at the first stop on the Toll Road and chamber a round simply because I can.

Shooting at the TV during a zombie movie marathon doesn't count......:innocent0
