Both are titled "Wearing, Carrying, or Transporting of Firearms" and appear very similar to a tradesman such as I,,

So why are there 2 of these bills ??

Vastly oversimplified - 118 includes some more locations not spelled out in 1 , and some higher penalties .

Cynically - Increases probability of one or other passes . Or the other sides left hand doesn't always talk to their right hand . Or two different groups of primary sponsors want bragging rights .

But yes , print out each Bill Text, and compare side by side .

    I did read them,
They appear similar but tweaked to be different.
118 does appear to have the "Whammy" of no taking any of your guns anywhere.

My guess is that Herr Waldstreicher thinks he is smarter than he actually is. SB-1 is up for public comment next week; SB-118 hasn't been scheduled yet. There's more than a coin-toss chance that Waldstreicher thinks he can make a bunch of concessions on SB-1, then follow-up later with SB-118 and erase them (hoping the opposition will burn their effort on the first, and then not notice the second slinking through.)

I don't think JPR Chairman Smith will tolerate such shenanigans. He and I don't see eye-to-eye, but he's a stickler for procedure. Gaming the system won't sit well with him.

The bill's sponsor says that Lawyers Mall is a gun free zone and he feels so safe there because no guns are allowed! I think he forgot about those capital police officers that are all over the place. Yes, those evil racist cops Dems say we need to get rid of. How did a guy with an IQ of about 70 get so far in life? Law school? Baltimore Sun article today.

SB-118 is the coke and hooker fever dream they want to pass that basically would ban firearms anywhere except your personal property and have the likely knock on effect of making it illegal to take guns anywhere. So what you have is what you have. Can't go buy a gun and bring it home, because that is likely happening on local, state, or federal controlled property (public roads).

SB-1 is the "we can probably pass this an say we are doing something and maybe it won't be instantly enjoined by a judge, unlike SB-118 which isn't even a *wink wink, nudge nudge* keeping things safer in a "constitutional" way.

I think if SB-1 passes, it'll almost certainly get PI/TRO quick unless we have extremely bad luck in the judge hearing it. SB-118 I see an immediate PI/TRO and even liberal judges laughing in scorn while shaking their head sadly at the state.

Marilyn Mosby somehow graduated from law school and passed the bar exam. There are wonders and miracles everywhere.
Standards have been lowered substantially to allow unqualified people to get licensed for all kinds of things. Even medical schools have jumped on this bandwagon. Think about that the next time you have a medical emergency!

Government and upper administrative positions are NOT a meritocracy and have not been for a very long time, it is simply who you know and what you're willing to do.

I was told that Gov. Evers in Wisconsin was or is seeking to eliminate licensing requirements for trades such as plumbers, electricians, general contractors and the like because the requirements are a barrier to employment for the undocumented. SMH.
