That would comport with the mindset of an anti for sure. If they met PA requirements, why would she care? A small revenue stream for local sheriffs and more armed good guys.

IIRC her original objection was PA residents carrying in PA on FL NR permits.

    She sure changed her tune.

    :sad20:

I'm guessing the discovery of what's apparently being referred to as the "Florida loophole" lead to the discovery of PA's reciprocity with these other states that offer easy to obtain NR permits.

How much does anyone wanna bet that the treatment they now give MD regarding PA NR permits also applies to NJ and NY?

Actually WV borders Pa also, but same concepts. She wants to keep out NY'er and NJ'ers , and Md is just a bonus.

The Pa 2A groups have a strong case that she actually didn't have the authority to cancel any agreements. But the systematic problem is that the AG is the sole authority to decide the lagality of the actions of the AG .

The PA requirement says you need a home state permit before you can get a PA NR permit. So sure she gets a bonus with all the anti states.

The only alternative for her removal is impeachment, which I know was being discussed in the PA legislature. She's a loose cannon. (no pun intended)

    totally believable.

Bloomberg bought the position for her, so no surprise she's raising as much havoc as she can before she is gone. Her impeachment is in the works, the Governor's own legal team is pushing it, and she has plenty of ethical violations and scandals to answer for. Pulling this late on mother's day Sunday is a new, but expected low. This was the situation from last week, I've been contacting reps about this for months, luckily most of the damage is relatively easy to reverse after she is out.

    ...

Writing the AG won't do anything, she's doing what she was paid by Bloomberg to do, pretty much a political kamikaze that will be lucky to finish a single term before impeachment. Writing Gov Corbett or Rep Daryl Metcalfe might help, they are pushing the impeachment proceedings...

PA is surrounded by very gun-unfriendly states which are also all may-issue, with the exception of, perhaps, Ohio. What I think is going on is this AG thinking to herself why if people are not allowed and will never be allowed to carry in their home state, should they be then allowed to carry concealed in PA?

WV also borders PA. They are shall-issue. I think she's aiming this squarely at NJ.

It's just the Alinsky/Bloomberg/Progressive Agenda in action:

    Take ground anywhere,anyway, anytime.

There is no reason, no rationale. It's a little sad to see people constantly making comments like, "Don't they see their policy doesn't make sense?"

Don't you see their policy has nothing to do with crime, or safety, or reason. It is nothing but the advance of the Progressive destruction of Western Civilization.

America is bad. Western Civilization is bad. All must be eliminated.

Nibble, nibble, nibble. It's just one little nibble at a time. They know what they're doing. Why do so many of us not see that?

When will this bill be voted on? When potentially could it become effective? Thanks

They have until November. After that it becomes uncertain because PA could flip blue and the new (dem) Gov wouldn't sign it.

The lack of movement has me concerned. This should be a slam dunk, and I don't believe the pols in PA would pay any political price for passing this. There must be some in the GOP's own ranks who aren't going along with this.

I would tend to agree. Having a Maryland CCW (even with restrictions), getting a PA non resident permit was no problem.

Or maybe it's just summer and people are busy on vacation rather than bothering to pass a low priority gun law.

    Pulled from another site:

URGENT: Please call PA House leadership and encourage them to vote in favor of HB2011

For those from PA (or who visit it often), please call PA House leadership, encourage them to bring HB2011 to a vote, and to SUPPORT it with NO AMENDMENTS. Even if you're not from the leaders' districts, they represent all of PA through their positions and it will help us get this important bill to a vote

    http://forum.pafoa.org/pennsylvania-10/263890-action-alert-hb-2011-pre-emption.html

This bill strengthens our pre-emption statute by giving gun owners standing in court to sue illegal gun ordnances and other laws enacted by PA municipalities (gun laws are currently reserved only for the state) without having to get arrested in the first place (currently the only way to gain standing in the courts). It also provides monetary compensation to those who sue should municipalities be found in violation of PA state pre-emption so that gun owners don't have to bear a huge legal cost and also serves as a disincentive from enacting these illegal statutes in the first place. And, to give municipalities that have these laws on the books without knowledge of state pre-emption (it happens, especially in rural areas that don't have a solicitor), there's a 30-day period prior to lawsuits built in to allow them to rescind the illegal statute. Overall, it's a very fair bill that helps gun owners very much.

PLEASE CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVE AND THE HOUSE LEADERS IN THE LINK ABOVE. It is currently scheduled for a vote, but it could be withdrawn or flooded with so many amendments that it gets killed. Please, even if your representative is in favor of it or you're from out of state, CALL AND MAKE YOUR OPINION HEARD. It will help us a lot!
